News anchor “Today, students of the Sint-Lievenscollege Ghent have organised an mp3-anti-anti activity. More than 200 students searched in a Cluedo-game the murderer of Lorenzo – a student of their own college. With this game, the students want to give a sign against useless violence.”
Voice Reporter “Lorenzo is murdered and the students have to find out who is the murderer. In the school’s festivity hall, more than 200 students receive some information and instructions and then start their searching.
The final project (dissertation subject) called Anti-anti of 5 students in their final year of the Sint-Lievenscollege Ghent is a complaint against useless violence."
Saartje Van Lysebetten – Student Producer "We’ll play a Cluedo-game. Students will be reminded with this game that useless violence is omnipresent. We also want to emphasize that useless violence is not tolerated on this school."
Voice Reporter "Students could download 4 audio-files from the school website and put these on their mp3-players. In as many classrooms video clips without sound can be viewed. By linking the downloaded audio-files to the right film, clues about the murderer and the motive can be found."

Arne Janssens – Student Participant "We already have listened to two video-clips, but I have no idea yet who could be the murderer."
Anouk Bouchez – Student Participant "We think that Annelies is the murderer, because she wants to protect her friend who is bullied and steamed by the person who is dead now. Annelies wants to protect her and she probably kills him. I think she had enough of the steaming."
Voice Reporter "But no, Annelies killed Lorenzo for an mp3-player."
Saartje Van Lysebetten – Student Producer "The problem of useless violence is often seen in reality and daily life. Let’s think about Joe Van Holsbeek and the mp3-murder. We also thought to develop something about an mp3-player. So we decided to let the mp3-player the red line through our project: everyone needs an mp3-player to solve the murder, and in the end of the game an mp3-player can be won. We thought this could be a useful project."
Voice Reporter "The winner hands over a tile to the school director ‘against useless violence’. The tile will be placed soon at an important spot. The project is successful: more than 200 students participate in an active way and understand that useless violence is not welcome on school and in daily life."

2.2. The mp3-anti-anti action against useless violence (April, 25th 2008)

2.2.1. Website & audio-files (4)

A simple website was developed and hosted on the Sint-Lievenscollege Ghent's server. All college-students received an electronic message in which they were invited to visit the 'Anti-Anti Tegen Zinloos Geweld'-website. The website informed the students about the project / fictive murder. They were asked to download 4 mp3-files. Website: http://anti-anti.slc-gent.be . The 4 audio-files can actually still be listened or downloaded on the website.

The students weren't aware the audio-files are part of video-clips. They only were informed to bring their mp3-player (I-pod...) at school April, 25th 2008.

At the same time the place of delict was marked by police. This stimulated the students to participate.

2.2.2. Video-clips (6)

2.2.2.1. Introduction (festivity hall)

Friday April, 25th 2008 at 12 am, interested students gathered in the school's festivity hall for an introduction-videofragment. From that moment they knew what to do with their mp3-player.

When they left the school's festivity hall they received a little map and submission-form. At the indicated locations, one of the 4 suspects was present and showed a video-file several times (from 00.30 pm till 1.00 pm) without sound.

2.2.2.2. Video-clips without sound (4 classrooms with beamer/dvd-player)

In this course the videofragments have sound, in reality, sound was on mute. So students had to link sound and video.
